Larisa’s Garden Episode 10: Deadhead Daffodils

Your garden requires some upkeep to allow you to go Truckin’ through enjoying the Sugar Magnolias, Scarlet Begonias, and China Cat Sunflowers. Nothing as drastic as a Fire On The Mountain or making a Friend Of The Devil, but it will take a teeny weeny intsy little more than a tiny Box Of Rain.

Ahem, please excuse all of these Grateful Dead puns because in this video Larisa speaks about Deadheading daffodils! This is the (not morbid) process of removing the flowers from daffodils after they stop flowering.

Takeaway Point

In Hindu philosophy there is the concept of the triad of deities – Bhrama the creator, Vishnu the preserver, and Shiva the destroyer. These deities represent the natural processes of, well, everything. Your garden is a microcosm of the universe – there will constantly be acts of birth, growth, death, and renewal. By helping support the system, you ensure luscious life for years to come.

Oh yeah, daffodils are propagated by bulbs so lopping off their heads is a way to create stronger healthier plants 🙂
