Cajun Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet potato is greatly adored for its sweet, warming, and nourishing qualities. When cooked properly it is not only delicious, but nutritious and digestible. In this super-simple recipe for Cajun Baked Sweet Potato Fries, the heat and spice of your favorite Cajun Seasoning* complements the natural sweetness of the potatoes and gives this dish a unique Southern zest.

* I like the seasoning my son jokingly brought me from New Orleans: Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning. We at Sadhana do not condone violence, but do support great tasting seasonings 🙂

Cajun Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Serves 4
  • 3 Medium to Large Sweet Potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Grapeseed Oil (plus extra for greasing)
  • Cajun Seasoning to taste
  • Salt to taste
  1. Preheat the oven to 400F. Grease baking sheets with grapeseed oil and set aside.
  2. Cut the sweet potatoes into even sized strips. Peeling is optional. Leaving the skin on makes the fries crispier.
  3. Place the sweet potato strips in a bowl and drizzle with grapeseed oil. Sprinkle salt and seasoning over the strips and toss until the fries are lightly coated with oil and seasoning.
  4. Arrange the fries in one layer on baking sheets.
  5. Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes, depending on thickness of the fries. Remove the baking sheets from the oven and flip the fries using a sharp spatula, some may stick a bit.
  6. Place the fries back in the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes. Remove when they have crispy brown edges and are browning on the bottoms.
